Carmel Christkindlmarkt, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The primary mission of the organization is to create and host an authentic, traditional German Christmas festival - the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. The festival has taken place for four years (2017-2021, skipping 2020 due to Covid-19), drawing 400,000+ visitors annually from mid-November through Christmas Eve, with the market expanding hours until New Year’s Eve in 2022. In 2019 and 2021, the Carmel Christkindlmarkt was voted the #1 Holiday Market in North America according to USAToday’s 10Best Readers’ Choice poll.
The mission of the Carmel Christkindlmarkt is supported by a small team of year-roundstaff and seasonal staff members. Assistant Site Supervisor
Pay range: $18/hour
Job description: Shifts will fall between the hours of 7:00 AM - 11:30 PM for the duration of the market.
Job duties:
- Self-starter required
- Ability to take initiative and report issues to site manager
- Hut inspection
- Operate handheld radio as needed
- Daily communication with Mainscape (Day Porter)
- Run Mugs/inventory/supplies as needed
- Must be able to perform lift lifting as needed (i.e.,moving directional signage/stanchions)
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to take direction
- Keeping Inventory (documenting inventory)
- Offsite errands as needed
- Ensure site is vacated at the end of the evening shift.
- Moving stanchions/ crowd control
- Setting up audio equipment as needed.
- Putting away audio equipment in the evening
- Locking and unlocking gate for vehicle access
- Light hut maintenance
- Wipe down kids’ area at the start of market
- Clean carpet
- Project Manage the signs
- Working with vendors on opening huts
- Availability during private rentals held during hours when market is closed.
- Working with vendors on closing huts
