Carmel Christkindlmarkt, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The primary mission of the organization is to create and host an authentic, traditional German Christmas festival - the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. The festival has taken place for six years (2017-2023, skipping 2020 due to Covid-19), drawing 400,000+ visitors annually from mid-November through Christmas Eve. In 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 the Carmel Christkindlmarkt was voted the #1 Holiday Market in North America according to USAToday’s 10Best Readers’ Choice poll.

Job description:

The Boot Mug Logistics Coordinator will oversee the handling and daily operations of our beloved signature collectible — the Carmel Christkindlmarkt Boot Mug. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth flow of mugs from storage to sales, ensuring every guest receives a clean, high-quality mug that enhances their Market experience.

The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, festive environment. This is a seasonal contract position running approximately two months, beginning shortly before the Market opens and concluding when mug inventory is sold out (typically the day before Market close). This position is expected to be available during all operating hours of the Carmel Christkindmarkt.

Job duties:

  • Coordinate with the Vice President of Operations to transport boot mugs from storage to the Market grounds prior to opening.
  • Establish and maintain systems for mug and tray washing, drying, and secure storage throughout the Market season.
  • Oversee the daily movement of mugs between washing, storage, and sales areas.
  • Maintain regular communication with Market staff via two-way radio to coordinate and ensure timely delivery of additional mugs.
  • Monitor mug inventory levels and communicate with Operations regarding restock needs or shortages.
  • Maintain an efficient workspace, adhering to health and safety standards, and ensuring any broken mugs are documented and properly disposed of.
  • Assist with end-of-season inventory, storage, and process review.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Dependable and self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Comfortable with physical tasks such as lifting, carrying boxes, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability and willingness to work in cold temperatures for 8+ hours, predominantly standing and walking.
  • Must be comfortable operating two-way radio.
