Summary:
The 2025 Kinderecke Staff is responsible for creating a magical German-inspired environment for families to enjoy doing crafts and other hands-on activities. Reports to the Cultural Programs Manager.
Kinderecke Program:
The Kinderecke serves as a magical place for families to come together to do crafts and be creative. The program includes weekly German- or Christmas-inspired crafts for all ages that are easy and mostly self-explanatory. The Kinderecke will be open for crafts during all hours of the market, including special events and some private rentals.
Essential Kinderecke Staff Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet and engage guests in the Kinderecke in a meaningful way.
- Assist guests during the crafting process as needed.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming environment in the hut; this includes making sure supplies are stocked, organized, and the hut is cleaned regularly.
- Understand the set-up and clean-up for each day’s crafts.
- Welcome and direct volunteers and staff upon their arrival to the Kinderecke and advise them of their role in the hut; be available for support during their shifts (Schedules and assignments will be provided by the Cultural Programs Manager).
- Help create a magical Christmas environment for all ages.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Enthusiastic about working with children of all ages and their families; experience in Early Childhood Education and/or Early Learning settings is a plus.
- Communicate and interact with the public and CCI team members professionally, serving as an ambassador for the Market.
- Strong interpersonal skills - able to work independently and with a team, problem-solver.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Able to spend prolonged time standing in all weather (mostly cold weather).
Time Commitment:
- Evening and weekend availability, most weekdays.
- Approximately 17-20 set hours a week are required during Market Hours (November 22, 2025 - December 24, 2025), with additional shifts available.
Compensation: $18/Hour
