Dynamic accordionist Alex Meixner mixes an array of musical styles into traditional, exuberant Central European party music, letting die-hard polka fans to enjoy the evolution and letting hipsters discover all there is to love in the innately fun genre. Solo and with his band, he has performed at major venues and festivals around the world, as well as at uncountable accordion-centric events. His virtuosic yet quirky style has made him a sought-after collaborator (he worked alongside Jack Black in the Netflix/Sundance pick The Polka King), spokesperson (Hormel and Ford have used his music), and educator. His recording “Polka FreakOut” with Brave Combo’s Bubba Hernandez won him a GRAMMY nomination.

This special day at the Market honors active and retired military members. Please join us at 12 p.m. for a ceremony in the Winter Pavilion that will celebrate members of the military. Headquartered on the southwest side of Indianapolis, the 38th Infantry Division Band is the only military band in the state of Indiana and serves as the musical ambassadors for the Indiana National Guard. The 38th Infantry Division Band has long been recognized as one of the premier military musical organizations in the Midwest, performing for community events and both military and civic functions throughout the state. The bandis a versatile organization which performs a wide variety of music, including marches,traditional, and patriotic selections, as well as jazz and popular musical styles.
