The Carmel Christkindlmarkt is an increasingly popular spot for groups wishing to celebrate the holidays. If you’re planning a group or bus trip to the Market, a little preparation goes a long way in ensuring a smooth, enjoyable experience for everyone. For the safety of all our guests and to reduce crowd stress, we have some tips to make visiting the Carmel Christkindlmarkt accessible for everyone.
While the Carmel Christkindlmarkt does not have designated bus parking or an official drop-off location, there are several ways to make arrival easier for your group.
We recommend that buses, vans, and large vehicles park offsite and walk to the Market. For guests who may need assistance, buses can briefly pull up along 3rd Avenue, ideally near the Market's northwest corner, to drop off passengers. Please leave enough space for traffic to pass safely. Please note that we do not have a designated drop-off spot, and traffic near the Market can be heavy, especially on weekends.
If you are a bus visiting on a weekday, we recommend reaching out to us at guestservices@carmelchristkindlmarkt.com for parking recommendations.
For parking, please use:
Please remember not to park in open business lots or residential areas. Many local businesses are also open during the Market, and we encourage you to support them. However, please use designated parking areas for the Market, as these spaces are reserved for the businesses and their guests.
The Market itself does not offer private rental space during open hours. However, several nearby restaurants within a 5-mile radius can accommodate group reservations:
If you’re planning a group meal, we recommend reserving in advance, especially during peak Market season.
The Carmel Christkindlmarkt doesn't offer pre-purchased group vouchers or gift cards. If you’d like to help your group with spending funds, we recommend giving each person a prepaid card. Most vendors accept both credit cards and cash, though a few may charge a small fee for card transactions.
Ice skating is a popular activity at Carter Green, located at the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. Each skater must reserve a session online in advance through the Ice at Carter Green.
For group skating or private rink rentals, contact The Ice at Carter Green directly at 317-402-1309.
Groups can explore the Market through a self-guided virtual tour with nine stops throughout the Market. Each stop includes a small sign reading 'Virtual Tour Stop' and a QR code. Anyone with a smartphone can scan the code to access a 90-120-second YouTube video (audio recording) that provides more detail about what the booth stop showcases. Personal headphones are recommended, as it can be difficult to hear without them.
In addition to the tour, the Market offers additional educational experiences:
The Carmel Christkindlmarkt is committed to making the experience accessible for as many people as possible.
While scooters are not available for rent, many guests bring their own mobility devices.
While the Carmel Christkindlmarkt doesn't have official sit-down areas, we do offer limited seating options throughout the Market and complimentary wheelchair rentals to make your visit more comfortable. Many visitors bring their own seated rollators or scooters to enjoy the festivities more easily.
You'll find several covered, heated barrel huts with seats, available on a first-come, first-served basis. These huts are free to use and can comfortably seat six people. To give everyone a chance to enjoy the space, we kindly ask guests to limit their stay to 30 minutes.
Near the Market, you'll notice some heated igloos provided by Vivante Restaurant & Bar - though they are not part of the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. For more details about dining there, visit their website: https://www.vivantecarmel.com.
